Ellis Ericson Feathers Quad - Futures Compatible

$209.95

Designed by Ellis Ericson and inspired by the revolutionary ideas behind the George Greenough Power Glide 45, The Feathers Quad blends classic hydrodynamic theory with modern performance intent. A full leading edge flows into a distinctive concaved inside foil, generating immediate acceleration while maintaining control through turns. Its neutral elliptical outline keeps the feel balanced and versatile, allowing the set to adapt across a wide range of boards and conditions. Fast, controlled, and highly responsive, the Feathers Quad is built to unlock speed and versatility without sacrificing precision.

  • Ellis Ericson's edge-inspired shapes have a lot of zip and go fast. These fins are fit to complement those characteristics. Although they have a larger surface area, they are also upright, reducing drag while offering an ample-sized pivot point. The power blade head shape is very unique, providing width to push from and generate speed, while freeing up top turns with its high aspect ratio.
  • These fins have drive and flow. The inside foil provides lift, and when on rail, the outline offers consistency through the turn. With a higher aspect ratio, you're freed to release the end of a turn, but with the fins still engaged, allowing quick linkage to the next maneuver.
  • These fins were designed to complement Ellis' Lite Kite shapes, and in general are ideal for a quad setup with a longer rail line or wider outline. The template pairs well with a board that likes to go fast and may not naturally have a tight turning radius, instead leaning on the fins to provide a pivot point.

HISTORY & ORIGIN

The Ellis Ericson Feathers Quad springs from the adventurous design language of Ellis Ericson, a Byron Bay-born surfer and shaper who grew up steeped in the rich lineage of 1970s Australian surfboard craft. Influenced early on by the curves and flow of classic designs — and shaped further by long stints riding and shaping in Indonesia — Ellis combines timeless surfboard aesthetics with a modern performance mindset rooted in speed, feel, and connection to the wave. As his exploration evolved beyond single fins and mid-lengths, the move into quad setups like the Feathers Quad represents a natural extension of his ethos: fuse old-school soul with progressive execution to unlock lively acceleration, drive through turns, and a playful yet precise ride. Central to Ellis' evolution is the lasting influence of George Greenough — whose revolutionary approach to flex, foil, and hydrodynamic efficiency reshaped modern fin design.
